Ninth Win For Mill Park’s Crown Towers

Six-year-old Crown Towers’ love affair with Hollywoodbets Greyville continued on Sunday, when the Justin Snaith trained gelding ran out a decisive winner of the www.goldcircleracing.co.za Pinnacle Stakes (1800m).

In the process, the Australian bred son of Camelot made it a fifth Greyville victory, with Crown Towers having now won nine times in total.

Very well weighted for Sunday’s 1800m contest, Crown Towers made amends for his poor last effort with a bold showing under Anton Marcus.

Marcus sent his mount to the front, where Crown Towers set a slow pace, with Tristful and News Stream further back.

Crown Towers kept galloping resolutely out in front and stayed on well to post a more than two and a quarter length win.

Gentleman’s Wager took second spot, finishing just over three-parts of a length in front of Tristful.

Winner of last season’s G3 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Cup Trial and Listed World Sports Betting Sledgehammer, Crown Towers claimed his ninth win from 25 starts in a time of 112.21 seconds.

Sold through the draft of Mill Park Stud at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the gelding is one of 41 stakes winners for Coolmore’s four time G1 winning sire Camelot, whose son Luxembourg current rates as favourite for next year’s 2022 Cazoo Derby.

Crown Towers, who is closely inbred to legendary sire Sadler’s Wells, is out of the Galileo mare Miss With Attitude – a five time winner who finished second in the Listed SAJC Morphetville Guineas.

Further back, this is the same family as the ill-fated St Leger winner Encke and the latter’s Irish Oaks winning dam Shawanda.
