Kellie McCarthy

Our Assistant Manager, Kellie, has worked for us since June 2011.
She came with a strong background in the thoroughbred industry having worked in studs in Ireland and other countries. She holds a Diploma of Horse Breeding and Training from Ireland.

Kellie has great aptitude for yearling preparation and now manages our yearling barns with skill and meticulous attention to detail. Her performance was publicly recognised when she received the GSSSA Horsemanship Award in 2017.

Her natural leadership qualities are a huge asset; she has always mentored new staff and encourages a positive team attitude which significantly contributes to the success of the farm.

Vincent Kierans

Vincent has been employed at Mill Park Stud since 2016.

His equine experience started with an Irish farm upbringing; his work with Hunt Clubs and breaking in and pre-training Thoroughbreds prepared him for his work on the Stud. Vincent is responsible for much of our broodmare and foal care, and for following through on the education of our youngstock leading into yearling preparation and sales.

Orla Purcell

Orla came to Mill Park Stud in October 2017, on a WHV visa.

She had completed the University of Limerick Certificate of Equine Science in 2015 and was able to travel and gain varied experience in the horse industry. Orla enjoys the diversity of farm life and the opportunities to learn from others especially when assisting the farriers and vets on the Stud.

Kristen Harrison

Kristen is a Meningie local and has been full-time with us since mid-2019.

She has always had her own horses for pleasure and competition. Before having children, she rode track work and worked at local racing stables. Kristen takes great interest in observing the development of the foals when they arrive at Mill Park Stud. She also enjoys following the careers of the racehorses we have raised.

Dr Siân Hazell BSc BVSc (hons)

Siân has been the resident vet at Mill Park since 2005 and considers herself very fortunate to work with a great team of people and quality bloodstock.

She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2000. She has had a lifelong love of animals and a desire to work with horses; becoming a vet combined these passions. Starting out in mixed practice in Bendigo, Victoria, she then did a season at a large National Hunt stud in Northern Ireland under the excellent mentorship of Conor Cashman. Upon returning to Australia in late 2003, Siân worked at the University of Melbourne before moving to South Australia and working for the Liston family at Lakewood Stud in 2004-2005.
